Cardiff City Earn Derby Draw Pre-Derby

Cardiff City came from a goal down to pick up a point against Derby County after putting in another effective performance. Yet again though it was a lack of firepower which meant Cardiff City didn;t pick up the three points they could well have earnt.

It was former WBA defender Albrechtsen who smacked the opener for the Rams, following poor defending at a corner. There should never have been a corner following a clear foul on Stephen McPhail - nevertheless it was sloppy defending as the Dane was allowed far to much space to fire home.

The introduction of Jay Bothroyd provided the catalyst for Cardiff City to press on and we immediately looked more dangerous. Some neat build up play saw Ledley played in before being scythed down for one of the most clear cut penalties you're likely to see. Miles Addison the culprit and Ross McCormack converted without fuss.

A draw was a fair result on the whole. Cardiff had more qulaity but lacked the chances. Another penalty could have been awarded for a foul on sub Eddie Johnson but on balance, 1-1 is a decent point and maintains the unbeaten start to the season before facing Swansea City tomorrow.
