Cardiff City FC Speak In Defence Of Paul Parry

Much has been said recently about the International retirement of Cardiff City midfielder/striker Paul Parry, in particular the unfortunate timing of his withdrawal. Players, pundits and fans have all weighed into the debate and the club yesterday felt the need to publish an offical statement to clarify Paul's position:

Paul Parry wishes it to be known that his decision to withdraw from Welsh International Football under the current management was a considered decision and was one that took into account his thoughts over a period of time, not just events of last weekend.

Paul is passionate about Welsh football and the success of the Welsh National team. Comments that have been made by others over the last few days have been both ill informed and emotive which is particularly disappointing.

The incident has already threatened to overshadow the most impostant fixture of the season to date, with some fans planning to target Parry at this weekend's Severnside derby against Bristol City. This is neither the time or the place, with a good performance and three points the only aim.

Whatever your thoughts on Paul Parry, this game is about the Bluebirds - and there is plenty to play for. Get behind the boys, all of them.
