Injury Blow For Cardiff City's Gavin Rae

Cardiff City midfielder Gavin Rae will be missing from tomorrow's squad to face newly promoted Doncaster Rovers after chipping a bone in his leg. He could be out for a couple of weeks.

That means a re-shuffle in midfield but the likely change is the return of Riccy Scimeca, having missed the entire last season with recurrent groin problems - the former Nottinham Forest and West Brom player will resume his central midfield partnership with Stephen McPhail.

Other options available to Dave Jones are switching Joe Ledley infield with Whittingham or Kennedy to play on the left wing. Youngster Darcy Blake could also replace Rae like-for-like but Scimeca is a far more likely replacement.

The injury to Rae, and Loovens departure to Celtic mean at least 2 enforced changes - Purse and Scimeca likely to cover and add experience and leadership quality. Ledley and Kennedy are expected to be fit despite niggles while Paul Parry and Jay Bothroyd are puching for starts.

I feel sorry for Gavin Rae he was injured during nearly his whole time at Rangers too he seems to have a curse with injury. Anyway least it's only a couple of weeks then he will be back for yous. Good luck in the new season guys, from a Rangers fan ;-)

Thanks. Rae was fit the whole of last season so looks to have put the problems behind him just a little bad luck right now. Tidy enough and a hard worker but a fully fit Scimeca is a huge asset
