Cardiff City last night wrapped up the signing of Jay Bothroyd from Wolverhampton Wanderers for around £300k. We headed over to Vital Wolves for a fans view on our latest acquisition:
Your thoughts on Bothroyd leaving?
Good luck to the lad. No hard feelings or anything. He COULD have done better. Scored some great goals, but not enough of them.
Can he do a good job for Cardiff City?
Definitely. DJ has a history of getting the best out of players, and he'll have to do that to make Jay's time at Cardiff a happy one.
He's big - but is he a typical target man like our other targets?
I wouldnt call him a typical target man, there's a lot more to his game than that. Calling him a target man does him a real injustice. Most fans at Wolves will tell you he was the most naturally gifted at the club in his time.
Any particular strengths? Ability, Ability, Ability.
And weaknesses? Work rate, and doesnt track back.
Is £300k a fair price?
Bargain.
Many thanks to Stuart Smith for his views. It does seem like we have a talented player on our hands. He could be a great signing, or have very little impact at all. Most Cardiff fans seem content with this addition, but many feel we also need another - more proven goalscorer to do the business week in, week out.
