Thommo Super-Strike Earns Friendly Draw

The forgotten man of Cardiff City FC popped up with a timely reminder of his presence as Steve Thompson fired in an impressive strike to seal a point for Cardiff City.


It took some time to get used to the weather for City, and they started sluggishly but found their rhythm against Vitoria Setubal.


It was more of a workout for the players than a serious game but second half substitute Thompson rifled in a great strike from 18 yards after a flowing team move. He nearly had another at the close but was narrowly denied.


Thompson has been transfer listed for over a year now, but remains one of only two frontline strikers at the club. When on form, he can be a dangerous player and impressive goals against Burnley (on debut) and Blackpool away last year add to his status. However, he just doesn;t get enough but will always give 100%. Last season he was left to do donkey work when chasing the game in the last 15 minutes, either playing with the static Hasselbaink or out-of-position Parry.

Hey, you guys remeber that other player we used to have, we didn't really give him much of a chance but i think he became one of the top scorers in his new club......... Alun Lee i think he was called!!! is it me or are we seeing the same thing here. lets give tommo the chance he deserves, can you imagine what it must have been like for him last year when 2 premier big boys turn up and your left on the bench!! and he's still with us! i know he messed up with that red card but he was trying to hard, lets get 1 proven striker up front and have the 2 scots fighting over who would partner them!

mccormack seened like complete class last night. maybe him and thommo could be the answer, and we always got parry as cover. beating teams in the champions league and winning the A cup would be a good preseason
