Cardiff City fans were largely upset and digusted with the latest display of ineptitude from the club although we should be getting used to it by now.
Only recently did Robbie Fowler turn his back on the Bluebirds after weeks of talk of 'when' and not 'if' he would sign the new deal.
Now Marcus Bent has fled to speak to Birmingham City, when the club had ALREADY announced the signing. It was a done deal, all sorted save for the medical, which as any CCFC fan knows is NOT a done deal. What then was the club playing at confirming the signing when nothing had been signed?
Our crazy club seemed to have learnt its lesson from the days when Lennie Lawrence would shout from the houses players he was interested in. Policy seemed to shift towards not naming targets until contracts were signed but it seems Ridsdale and co were unable to stop this move from becoming public, and hunable to keep himself from gleefully confirming the move.
Supporter expectation adds to this pressure, and Ridsdale could be forgiven for wanting to apease the fans, but quite simplyt he got it wrong and put his faith in a player and his agent.
Thomas Klos, Jody Morris and around this time last year Chris Killen all fit into entirely this category and on each occasion we were gazumped and appear foolish at best.
When will we learn? In fact, that now is not the pressing matter. We have less striking options than previously and appear no nearer landing another one than we were at the start. So many other targets have already moved on, and now we are looking at buget signings or paying over the odds. I hope we have a plan.
