Van der Schaaf Snub For Cardiff City

Van der Schaaf Snub For Cardiff City

Cardiff City look to have been turned down by Dutch midfielder Remco Van der Schaaf - the plyaer said to be 'very impressed' with our set-up and facilities.

The box-to-box midfielder is available on a free transfer folling his release by Vitesse Arnheim. They wanted him to stay but after promising a bumper new deal were unable to deliver. Contractual terms now seem to be the stumbling block regarding his proposed transfer to Cardiff City.

Remco has Champions League experience and at 29 should be in his prime but Cardiff City offered only a 1 year deal, whilst he was also thought to be expecting a higher basic wage.

The deal is not officially dead, and Remco is certain to leave his current club. However, there has been interest from other countries and unless Cardiff City are willing to improve their deal - it looks likely Van der Schaaf will move elsewhere.
