Champions League Player Cardiff City Bound ?

Cardiff City previously stated they would be seeking a replacement for Aaron Ramsey who moved to Arsenal in one of the big deals of the summer. Progress has been made with Chairman Peter Ridsdale confirming a player of good pedigree has been in talks.

We know very little at this stage although the more pessimistic among us will already be highlighting key words from Ridsdale's quotes. He told the SW Echo:

"We are in talks with an experienced, box-to-box midfield player who has Champions League experience,"

"He is not English and has not been playing for an English club."

"Dave Jones showed him around the new stadium and our training facilities at the Vale of Glamorgan. He was extremely impressed."

'Experience' is often mooted as a good point but we did not see the best of Hasselbaink, Sinclair or as yet Fowler. We have the experience of Scimeca in central midfield while Rae, McPhail and Parry are none of them young any more.

Others among the Cardiff City fans will already be speculating as to which Scottish player we are after! McNaughton, Rae, Thompson made up the Scots already at the club while 'not English' is a fairly loose term.

Ridsdlae is known to like to keep transfers close to his chest and these comments are little more than teasing. It's action we all need but at least the comments sound promising.
