Cardiff City Have Money As Wanted List Lengthens

Cardiff City are certainly in the market for strikers with 2 expected to join the Bluebirds while talks have been ongoing for several of the top targets. The talks have so far been described as 'positive'.

Speculation is that City are ready to spend much of the transfer kitty on the right striker and with the £5m for Aaron Ramsey paid up-front and banked - we do have some leverage in the transfer market.

There are several targets which would fit the bill and please the fans:

Chedwyn Evans of Manchester City is extremely promising and highly sought after. A big big would be needed to tempt Mark Hughes but a season-long loan is a possibility for the Welshman.

Michael Chopra has not impressed as yet at Sunderland but surely Roy Keane would want much of the £5m back? He'd certainly fit in with us and add some much needed pace.

Jason Roberts was a strong contender but a move now looks less likely. Pace, power and experience - he would be a useful acquisition.

Kris Boyd. A long shot but he is rumoured to be unsettled at Rangers whilst he previously agreed a move to Cardiff and knows several of our players through his Scottish connections.

There are some other players we are linked with, which would be less gratefully recieved by the supporters:

Steve Howard of Leicester City is on high wages, lacks pace and commands high wages - nevertheless Dave Jones in a keen admirer and has tried to bring him in previously.

Darren Byfield has been released by Bristol City and is looking for another Championship club after he did reasonably well in the Wurzels' promotion attempt.

Mamady Sidebe, the ex-Swansea City striker is powerful but cant play football and cant shoot. Nevertheless, we have been strongly linked.

Landing any of the top strikers would represent a massive coup and boost. It could be that these are ALL diversions while we chase the real targets. Until we hear more, I'll keep dreaming of a strikeforce of Chopra, Evans, Fowler....

Slightly lacking in power but we don't score from crosses anyway - I'd back Chopra and Evans for 40 goals between them!

Well - we've also got Mr Thompson if we need a bit of brute force.....
