It would be fair to say that Cardiff City took somewhat of a gamble this season after recruiting two veterans to spearhead their attack for this years anticipated play-off push.
In Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink we had too experienced and proven campaigners but both lacking pace and in Fowler's case having a known injury proneness.
We have struggled in that department all season and the two old pros must take some of the blame, they just haven't made the necessary impact. Hasselbaink through lack of pace and Fowler through lack of fitness.
However, both have been offered deals at the club for next season, though it does appear that Dave Jones will not be so easily convinced and has based the wages on offer on appearances in a 'pay-as-you-play' type deal. One or both could go, although Robbie Fowler must surely feel he owes something to the club and should relish such a deal to prove his fitness.
A poll is now open on the Vital Cardiff City homepage - on the right hand side of your screen asking your thoughts on Fowler and Hasselbaink's futures at the club.
