Cardiff City Fans For Fowler FA Cup Inclusion

Cardiff City have been waiting all week to discover whether veteran crock Robbie Fowler will recover enough to play a part at Wembley, in the FA Cup final despite not having kicked a ball for the club since before Christmas.

Fowler stepped up his rehabilitation following hip surgery and was touch and go to be included for the final game of the season against Barnsley. He will not start, but if fit enough, Dave Jones is considering naming the striker on our bench to add experience of the big occasion and a finishing instinct if needed.

However, this is a risk for an injury ravaged player, with no match fitness in such a huge game. The risk is compounded by having Parry only recently returned to fitness and another old-timer, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, starting the game. Surely he wont last 90 minutes on the massive Wembley pitch and can Fowler be trusted to contribute for a lengthy period?

A recent poll on this website, suggested by member gtsutton asked readers their thoughts on the inclusion of Fowler - and who should make way:

Hasselbaink. 13%
Parry. 2%
Thompson. 22%
A midfielder. 16%
No Place For Robbie. 47%

Most Cardiff City fans were actually for the inclusion of Fowler although few could agree on whom should miss out! Personally I dont think he should feature, he simply doesnt deserve this chance ahead of others in the squad and is a major gamble.

One option would be to drop Michael Oakes and use Darren Purse as an emergency goalkeeper. If Fowler is named, Thompson appears the most likely to make way.

Of course no-one will mind if Robbie uses his instincts and pokes home a winner in injury time, but how likely is that....?!?

great game - shame about the booing for both national anthemns. i dont think they should have played the weslsh one (sorry) - but booing it was unaceptable. booing the british (and hence your own) was just comical! But it was nice to see you staying behind for the presentation of the medals/trophy, and you never seemed to stop singing (not that i could hear you from where i was ;-) ).

Would Fowler have made a difference? Or were Portsmouth just the better side?
