Cardiff City have been given a massive boost today on the eve of the FA Cup final with the fantastic news that the court action taken against the club by mystery backers Langston, is nearly at an end.
After a period of quiet following the refusal of a summary judgement, in which the jusge recommended the matter be settled out of court, negotiations have been taking place behind the scenes and the outcome appears great news for the Bluebirds.
Peter Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo:
"Hammam is the only representative of Langston I have met and I am in dialogue with him,"
"They have made it clear they have no intention of taking it further and they wish to resolve the situation."
"We are pretty close to deciding how that will be resolved."
This is simply excellent news, especially given Hammam's confirmation, also to the echo, that everything would be sorted out soon.
This is likely to mean a new agreement between the club and Langston, without any ambiguity that will structure repayment of the loan. Langston wanted it now feeling CCFC had breached the terms, we felt it was payable in 2016. Given the vast improvement in club finances recently, the debt should be cleared well before then.
If history has taught Cardiff City fans anything, doubts will remain. This issue has been shrouded in secrecy, dodginess and outright lies. Nevertheless, it can only be good news today, and for the future of the club.
