Cardiff City could, in theory, welcome the two best finishers back into the squad for tomorrow's trip to Burnley:
1) Robbie Fowler
The former Liverpool legend has been out for months after hip surgery. It looked as though his season, and Cardiff City career, could be over but intensive rehabilitaion along with some new-fangled technology and the prospect of an FA Cup final have spurred Fowler to a speedy recovery.
Fowler desperately wants a Wembley appearance but surely he would not be thrown in, unfit into an FA Cup final. That means playing some league action prior, still a gamble given his lengthy injury but a more calculated one. Tomorrow's game comes too early for Fowler, but time has effectively run out and the Bluebirds may well give him a short run-out.
2) Paul Parry
City's top scorer missed the FA Cup semi-final with a hamstring pull - and we have also missed Parry. His pace in attack has been key to the latter season resurgance and he offers a more potent threat than any other striker and provides an outlet for the likes of McPhail and Hasselbaink.
Parry is now back in full training having regained fitness. It would be foolish to risk aggrevating a hamstring injury but a decision will be made late as to whether Parry is fit to feature.
Normarily, neither player would play but we now have just 2 games to prepare before the FA Cup final and have looked desperately lacking in attack. Thompson and Hasselbaink are the only recognised strikers in the current team, neither is guaranteed a starting postion once the competition returns.
