Price Hike For Cardiff City's Up-For-Sale Stars

Cardiff City's Wembley bound stars are all well and truly in the shop window as Peter Ridsdale confirms, for the umpteenth time, that every player has his price.

Cardiff find themselves with a young and talented squad, surely just one or two players away from being serious promotion candidates in the Championship. However, if they are serious about securing Premiership football, they would surely need to hang onto their brightest young prospects.

Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ledley are two of the most talked about players outside the Premiership and the Welsh youngsters both have superb potential. However, both are highly visible to prospective clubs and the Cup run will only have enhanced that.

Now Peter Ridsdale has re-iterated that every player has their price. He told the Western Mail:

"Every scout under the sun is watching Cardiff at the moment and every player has a value."

"I expect people to be knocking on my door, but they can knock as much as they like. Certain players have a value and that is that."

"Every player is up for sale, that has alway been the case. What has changed is that the price has just got bigger - it would take a massive cheque to prize certain players away."

Selling players for good prices is acceptable and good business sense. However, it seems clear that monies raised will not go back into team strengthening indicating that there is a financial shortfall at the club and we must sell players to meet that gap.

This timely statement by Ridsdale could well be intended to attract bids in our players, and tantamount to hanging big 'for sale' placards round their necks. Only time will tell, but Cardiff City is supposedly building for a bright future - it just doesn't seem that way very often.

.. of course if we don't NEED to sell Ramsay and Ledley we shouldn't - if we're serious about making a real bid for promotion for the new stadium .. and our bright young stars should think carefully about going .. Chris Gunter I know didn't WANT to go but felt he had no choice .. he's certainly earning more but he's playing far less .. the odd outing for Spurs reserves in front of tens of fans isn't what he'd want .. so Joe and Aaron think hard!

Must be very difficult to resist, and Ramsey would only have to look forward to another season of hype, pressure and speculation - I do think that another season at Cardiff would be the best possible course for his career

chris gunter was way to over-rated, he could only play right back, and made quite a load of mistakes a game, but rambo, can play all over and make very few mistakes, he creates the chances from what ever postions, the teams that are being promoted are the teams that say they dont wanna sell, and dont sell

Agree with ramsey point but certainly not Gunter. Also perfectly good at left-back, especially for Wales and rarely made mistakes imo. Good player with a good future.
