This was exactly the type of flat performance most Cardiff City fans expected as we slumped to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers - still highly disappointing.
Wolves just wanted it more, of course they had much much more to play for, but couldn;t we take notice of Scunthorpe's gutsy performance?
Andy Keogh headed in the first on 8 minutes and whilst Cardiff dominated possession for the next half hour - they were frustratingly poor with it. Wolves were solid but it was like a throwback to October for City as possession rarely developed into meaningful attacks and they once again lacked any sort of edge in attack.
Shortly before half-time, City were made to rue the wasted possession as the impressive Ebanks-Blake fired home the second. It was game over, but nothing changed for City.
The third came as Ebanks-Blake's shot was parried by Enckelman, the ball squirmed from his grasp but unsuprisingly it was a Wolves player, Michael Kightly, who reacted first and slotted home the rebound.
I really hope that if something had rested on this game, the outcome and performance would have been very different. It wasn't a lack of effort, but the extra push was missing.
Burnley and Barnsley remain, we simply must do better if only in preparation for the FA Cup final.
