Vital Cardiff City spoke to Cardiff born singer/songwriter, Eurovision contestant and huge Cardiff City fan James Fox about his song to be released for the FA Cup final - Bluebirds Flying High.
How long have you supported Cardiff City?
I have supported Cardiff City since 1983....I was a mascot against Charlton that year.
Favorite player, past and present?
Favourite player now would be Steve McPhail and past player would be Roger Gibbins.
'Bluebirds flying high' - serious release or bit of fun?
It's a football song for my team...I'm just a fan trying to celebrate this occasion, it hardly breaks new musical ground but I want it to do well and get a good chart position, like I want the team to do well. It has been a welcome break from recording my album, my two passions coming together Cardiff City and Music, how much more fun could i have?!!
How long did it take to write?
Between 8 and 10 mins, can't be sure of an exact time!
Response to the song so far?
The response from the players and supporters has been unbelievable, it's crazy to be working with the club I support so closely. I always wanted to play for Cardiff, so having the fans sing my song is the next best thing.
Any recent / future James Fox releases?
I released my EP called six string on itunes just before christmas and having just come back from Afghanistan i am recording my new album which is due for release June/July.
Prediction for the final?
Quietly confident......2-1 City!
Many thanks to James for taking the time out to speak with us. We'll keep you informed of progress with the song, and where to get it ahead of the big Wembley date!
