Iron Fan's View On Cardiff City Game

Cardiff City travel to play already relegated Scunthorpe United this weekend needing maximum points. We spoke to Scunny fan Ian Jackson ahead of the game:

Already relegated - how would you describe this season?

Painful! When we look at the other teams we came up with: Blackpool looking nearly safe and Bristol City going for promotion its very tough. Especially as we were champions last year...

What went wrong over the season?

I was very happy with the start we made, but since November we've won very few games and not once can I remember us going on a run. Back-to-back wins is how you climb this division and we never did that.

Is it the manager's fault?

I don't have a problem with Nigel Adkins, but I believe the whole club, manager included was not geared up for a Championship season. I think he ought to stay, but we need a big turn-around.

Any bright spots to the season?

Beating Charlton, a 3-2 win over Sheffield United last year and Martin Paterson's goals.

Fancy doing us a favour on Saturday?

I sincerely hope not! There's still pride, preparation for next season and I'd like to think we'll do all we can to stay above Colchester and not finish bottom!

If you could have one Cardiff player on a free - who and why?

Not sure really so I'll say this Ramsey kid everyone is talking about. We'll take him, sell him on and buy a 7 good new players!

Scunthorpe United player to watch?

Martin Paterson. I hope we can keep hold of him next year but he is one player who has shown true Championship quality this year.

Prediction for the game?

Form doesn't get much worse, but we're at home and I feel obliged to back us for a draw. Wouldn't be suprised by any result though!

Many thanks to Ian again for his views.
