Baggies Boost For Bluebirds

Cardiff City were given a lift last night when a helping hand from West Bromwich Albion saw the play-off hopes brighten slightly.

With the chance to go top of the league by overcoming local rivals Wolves, W.B.A. needed no second invition or encouragement. It was by no means a favour to Cardiff City but a defeat for Wolves is more than welcome for us.

Zoltan Gera got the winner in the second half from a Kevin Phillips centre, and it was enough to snatch all three points.

The result keeps Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 points ahead of Cardiff, but does use up their game in hand.

It's very cluttered in the mix with 7 teams between 60-65 points and seemingly fighting for the one remaining spot. Crystal Palace currently occupy that place, but if Cardiff win our game in hand the gap is just 2 points with 3 games to play.

Still a tall order, but we live in hope.....
