Jones: 'Cardiff City Not Favourites'

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has moved swiftly to remove the 'favourites' tag from the club ahead of their FA Cup semi-final clash against Barnsley.

With the competition wide open, Cardiff have been installed as third favourites to lift the trophy as ther bookmakers rely heavily on the league standings. Porsstmouth come top as the only Premiership side remaining, West Brom follow, then Cardiff City and finally Barnsley - currently battling against relegation from the Championship.

However, Dave Jones does not see it like that and told Sky Sports News:

'I find that quite strange because Barnsley are coming off the back of beating Chelsea and Liverpool, so I don't quite understand that one.'

Jones went on to comment on the openness of the competition and the need to put in a good performance on the day.

'In this division there are no guaranteed results, because everybody is capable of winning a match on the day, and that goes for the FA Cup.'

'At this stage of the competition it doesn't really matter who you play, you've still got to beat them.'

It doesn't really matter anymore, but Cardiff would probably have chosen Barnsley above the other two clubs. By no means will this be an easy game but it certainly represents a realistic and golden opportunity for the Bluebirds.
