Cardiff City drew last night with promotion hopefuls West Brom. It was not a bad performance by Cardiff and they remain unbeaten by the Baggies in 3 games this season.
However, one major incident of note occurred shortly before half-time when Paul Parry pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring problem. He hobbled off and went straight for treatment by Sean Connelly.
Warren Feeeny was seen warming up at half time but bizarrely came on for Steve Thompson - a suprising decision to say the least! The management staff obviously thought Paul Parry would be able to shake off his problem.
Thommo missed a sitter, and looked woefully short on confidence. However, you simply HAVE to question the logic of removing your striker just moments after the other picked up a knock. Parry just lasted three minutes before withdrawing meaning a change in personnel and system for Cardiff.
We can't blame Dave Jones for Warren Feeney's subsequent injury but that left us with no strikers in the side.
Whether Parry and the physio thought he could 'run it off' is irrelevant - the sensible option would be to give it 5-10 minutes before making a decision.
Fortunately for Cardiff, it didn't cost them last night and the players acquitted themselves well. With the Cup semi-final on Sunday, they were never going to take chances with Parry's fitness so I am disappointed with Dave Jones decision and what looks to me like naivety.
But who are we, the fans, to judge....?
