Cardiff City were dealt a potentially devastating blow last night when top scorer Paul Parry was forced to leave the field just minutes into the second half.
Parry pulled up while chasing a through ball on the stroke of half time and immediately hobbled to physio Sean Connelly holding his hamstring. Feeney warmed up throughout the interval but actually replaced Thompson at the break.
However, although Parry made the second half, he lasted just 3 minutes before he was forced off. We must hope this was a precaution and by coming off early - he avoided any further damage and will be available on Sunday.
Parry is the single player with genuine pace and has added an extra dimension since being puched into attack. He now leads the scoring charts and creates space for other players in midfield.
Thompson looks well short of confidence and threat, while Feeney is cup tied for Sunday's trip to Wembley. That means that Parry is the single most important member of the side at present and simply cannot be replaced like-for-like.
Parry will have a scan today to determine the extent of any damage. Here's hoping it was just a tightening and he will be back in full training on Wednesday.
