Cardiff Outshine Boro (Boss Comment)
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was in buoyant mood after watching his side outplay Middlesbrough and ease to the semi-finals with a 2-0 victory. Jones told BBC Sport:
'I think we played well today and fully deserved the victory.'
'It's a great achievement for this football club with all that's going on around us back home,'
'We said if we played to our potential and they are slightly off then we would have a chance.'
'We were composed, did the right things and it is up there with the best performances since I've been here.'
'It's a great victory and I've certainly enjoyed it. I'm sure the plane home will be rocking, not with the wind, but with us on it.'
Gareth Southgate took defeat on the chin as he held his hands up. The former England centre-half conceeded that the better side won and laid the blame firmly at his own feet:
'We have to hold our hands up, Cardiff were better from start to finish and they thoroughly deserved the win.'
'I don't think we can have any gripes about anything today. It's my responsibility because I'm in charge and I obviously haven't set the right tone because we haven't performed.'
'The fans are going to be disappointed and angry, understandably so.'
