'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Holloway 'Loves Facing Cardiff City'

Cardiff City will tomorrow host Leicester City and their eccentric manager Ian Holloway as the relegation threatened Foxes travel to South Wales in search of points.

Leicester are not exactly in good form, they have lost 4 from 5 and are especially bad on the road. However, the manager Ian Holloway doesn't seem to mind and is always happy to play Cardiff City. 'Ollie' mentioned in his BBC Sport column:

'We've got Cardiff on Saturday and my old mate Davy Jones - I love playing them, they always play nice football.'

Nice football is all well and good but I think any Cardiff fan would take the points rather than the prettiness. We are one of the more 'footballing' sides in the division but need to close games down and win ugly when necessary. It's also worth noting that when the 'nice football' fails us, we rarely have any back-up plan and are often unable to adapt and change games.

The last time Holloway came up against Cardiff City was a 0-0 draw shortly after he joined Leicester. Holloway does have a reasonable record against the Bluebirds with previous club Plymouth Argyle - one reason he enjoys playing against us will date back to last season when, having been three goals up, Cardiff City capitulated and allowed the Pilgrims to equalise - with the help of Purse and McNaughton own goals. Argyle even won a late reprieve when a stonewall Koumas penalty claim was denied.

Hopefully, Holloway will have no cause to enjoy his trip to South Wales on the weekend. Cardiff City need the points too and must strive to regain some form themselves.
