Middlesborough To Face Cardiff City

Cardiff City's opponents for the FA Cup quarter final next week have finally been decided after yet another goalless draw between Middlesborough and Sheffield United.

The two sides tonight played out another stalemate after a gutsy Sheffield United rearguard action. That made it 3 hours played between the sides without a goal. Boro will have rued several missed chances but the visitors dug deep and the game became scappy and even more dull.

It took a moment of bizarre fortune to break the deadlock. In the second period of extra time, Mido's shot took a wicked deflection, hit the post and rebounded onto Paddy Kenny's hand and the Blades keeper could only watch in horror as the ball trickled over the line.

Sheffield United never looked likely to forge an equaliser and it's Middlesboproguh who progress. Cardiff City will travel to Riverside for a televised clash on Sunday 8th March.

very tough draw, boro could of been 10-0 up but thanks to some awsome defending by killgallon and gilespie i think it was, cant really see loovesn purse johnson keepin the likes of tuncai or alves out to be honest, and upfront, we arent gonna cause any problems for the boro defences, seein as we got a winger and lazy man up front

chris morgan was the other centre back but I thought there was much cause for optimism. If you frustrate them and close down Downing, they panic and lose quality. We go with nothin to fear, hopefully we can sneak a result - they will also be pretty damn tired !

So it's boro at the Riverside then fellas .. not the tie you would have wanted but they are still doable on the day ... 90 minutes away from Wembley .. stay positive and we (Pompey) might just see you in the final... if we can knock out United that is ... don't fancy a swap do ya ?
