'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ollie Drops Cardiff Clanger Over Pie

Cardiff City face Leicester City at home this weekend as Ian Holloway brings his under-performing Foxes to Ninian Park.

Holloway is the latest in a string of high profile managerial appointments by Leicester City owner Milan Mandaric. None so far has sufficiently impressed the ruthless Chairman and Holloway's brief tenure has done little to lift the gloom after an inauspicious start.

However Ian Holloway appears to have put his foot in it ahead of his trip to South Wales by proclaiming one of Cardiff's best-loved exports as a product of his native Bristol !

When asked in his regular BBC column his thoughts on former club Bristol City's achievements in the FA Cup, Holloway replied:

'I think it's absolutely marvellous. There's some great things that have come out of Bristol - Clark's pies, a couple of football teams.... not sure about me, though!'

I'll leave the two Brizzle football club out of this but Clark's Pies are somewhat of an institution in Wales' capital city. While Holloway is surely referring to Clark's pie shop in Bristol, Harold Clark took himself and his mother's pie recipe from Cardiff to open a separate branch.

The Clark's Pie is, always has been, and remains a Cardiff entity!
