Cardiff City will name a side based on a mixture of youth and experience for tonight's FAW Premier cup tie against Newport County.
The game provides a welcome return for Riccy Scimeca, Cardiff's influential midfielder who has been sidelined for a year with a groin injury. Trevor Sinclair is also returning to match fitness after knee surgery and may get a chance.
Youngsters Darcy Blake and Jon Brown will be hoping for a chance to impress as both sit on the fringes of the first team squad.
Cardiff could be strong in defence with Darren Purse likely to skipper the side. Purse has not played for the first team since early December and will be given time to gain match practice ahead of his recall on Saturday while Dutchman Glenn Loovens will be suspended for two league games and could feature.
In attack, Steve Thompson may be given an hour, the Scots marksman has been limited to short substitute appearances recently as back-up to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
The Newport County squad reads like a who's who of former Cardiff players. Amongst those hoping to be involved are:
Lee Jarman, Steve Jenkins, Damon Searle, Jason Bowen and Lee Fowler while ex-Swansea frontman Julian Alsop can be a handful in attack.
The game kicks-off at 7pm tonight with the winner meeting either Carmarthen Town or Llanelli in the final.
