Cardiff Progress At Wolves' Expense

Cardiff City started at breathtaking pace and Wolves were just not up to it. Hasselbaink put Whittingham through to coolly finish for a lead within two minutes.

Soon afterwards, it was two as a rattled Wolverhampton side allowed Hasselbaink to turn and fire a brilliant left-footed shot past Hennessey in goal.

Cardiff conitnues to impress with Wolves only able to muster half-chances in their rare forays into Cardiff territory.

Although better in the second period, Wolves were unable to mount a serious challenge and Cardiff conitnues to look dangerous. As the game wore on, Cardiff settled for the 2 goal win and proffessionally and effectively saw out the game for successive clean sheets for on-loan Peter Enckelman.

Cardiff City are through to the quarter-final after playing some really good football. Jez Moxey and Mick McCarthy were subjest to some boisterous singing from the Cardiff fans and we look forward to the draw for the next round with no reasons for fear.
