Cardiff City fans have been excited for some time about the dazzling potential shown by youngster Aaron Ramsey as the 17 year old has risen through the Cardiff ranks and formed an integral part of the the Wales U21 revolution under Brian Flynn.
Ramsey has featured several times recently for the Bluebirds, the cup game against Chastetown, and starts against QPR and Coventry City. In each appearance he looks effective, impressive and shows maturity well beyond his years.
The youngster has a huge future ahead of him, but manager Dave Jones is urging caution and will not put too much pressure on him at such an early stage in his career. Jones told the SW Echo:
"We have to be very, very careful, we all need to relax on the kid and be aware of his development, progression and age."
"He now needs to learn to put his foot on the ball and dictate the pace of the game - he is 17 years of age and he is not going to have that skill as part of his game yet."
"This kid will be bigger and better than a lot of those who have come through at Cardiff City, but I stress it must be done right."
Clearly Ramsey is a talent which must not be wasted by rushing his development. However, we do need to see the youngsters coming through at Cardiff City and Jones signalled his intentions by replacing skipper McPhail with Ramsey on Tuesday.
Joe Ledley picked up a hamstring injury in the draw with Coventry City meaning that Aaron Ramsey may well start tomorrow's game against Wolverhapton Wanderers.
