Wolves' Road To Cardiff City

Wolverhampton Wanderers are the 5th round opponents for Cardiff City this weekend in an F A Cup showdown.

Like Cardiff, Wolves entered the competition at the third round stage. They needed a late winner to beat Blue Square Premier side Cambridge United after the non-league side had taken the lead.

Woves followed that win up by notching an impressive 4-1 win against Championship promotion contenders Watford.

Whilst a 5th round tie at Cardiff City would not have been their preferred draw, manager Mick McCarthy was satisfied and sees the fixture as a good chance to progress. Wolves have already won at Ninian Park this season courtesy of a 3-2 victory but that was a long time ago and the fortunes of both sides have changes.

Cardiff have seen off non-league Chasetown and League 2 promotion contenders Hereford United. Whilst they will not go into the game as clear favourites, they do have home advantage and City's Ninian Park form is good.

Cup runs are always interesting for fans of any club, both sides will have a good chance and would love to make the next round. The competition is wide open this year and there should be plenty more opportunities to boost the coffers. The game promises to be a tight affair, with a great prize on offer. Hopefully Cardiff can pick up their game and get the win.
