Even before the Cardiff City vs Norwich City game on the weekend, we knew that young striker Ched Evans, on loan from Manchester City, was one to watch.
His exploits for Wales U21s have not gone un-noticed and the youngster is hotly tipped for a bright future. In fact Cardiff City made tentative enquiries as to his availability before his loan agreement with the Canaries was extended.
On Saturday, Ched Evans was the best player on the pitch. His movement and work rate were excellent, while he constantly caused problems for Cardiff and showed some neat and intelligent touches.
Aside from that, he scored two good goals. The first showed good awareness to drop back into space and he fired low past Oakes, while the second was a phenomenal strike (if you haven't seen it yet, do) from over 30 yards and giving Oakes as little chance as is humanly possible.
As he hit it, I thought 'ambitious' but could only watch as it flew into the top corner. The thump did sound a little ominous but he had no other options and it was speculative to say the least. However, he scores those in training, and got a beauty this weekend - leaving Cardiff with nothing.
The only consolation is that Ched Evans is Welsh and is sure to be featuring for the senior squad sooner rather than later. He capped an excellent all-round display with two great goals - unfortunately at Cardiff City's expense.
